WHAT'S NEW AT GLADDEN HOUSE: SUMMER 2024

Each quarter, we share with our families, donors, and community a little more of what's happening at Gladden House and in the neighborhood or Franklinton. Whether it be a small token of gratitude or an invitation to ways you can help, here is our SUMMER update for what's new at Gladden:

Save the Date: Marching for More – Oct 9, 2024

Gladden Community House + The Best Damn Band in the Land = The Best Damn Fundraiser in the Land!

Mark your calendars for October 9, when Gladden House, in collaboration with the Ohio State University Marching Band, will host the 16th Annual Marching for More at Ohio Stadium!

Over the last decade and a half, our incredible sponsors and partners have helped raise nearly $2 million to support stabilizing families in Franklinton and beyond!

Interested in sponsoring this year's event? E-mail Director of Development, Travis Hoewischer, at (thoewischer@gladdenhouse.org)!

Thank you for Chipping In!

As we announce our fall fundraiser, we’re just as excited to express our deep gratitude for those who participated in our spring fundraiser, another successful Chip-In Challenge at TopGolf!

Thanks to our 26 sponsors, we raised more than $30,000 again to support our Team Sports program! Our winning team, Mobilize Cloud, was given two weeks of advertising at Broad and High (courtesy of Orange Barrel Media) and free passes to each player to the Memorial Tournament (courtesy of Nationwide Insurance). Shout-out to Copper Capital for improving on their 2023 showing from 3rd to 2nd place, and to Engineered Systems for taking 3rd in their first appearance in the tournament!

Other wins:

  • Like all of our programs and services, we can’t do what we do without the engaged support of our partners and donors. This month, we salute the Columbus Youth Foundation for their continued investment in our program, along with several donors who participated in the Help Us a Ton Campaign, helping us purchase a year's worth of dirt for our sports fields. We also celebrate our friends at Scioto Downs, who donated a gift basket to our raffle winner from those who donated, with a $100 gift card to Brews Brothers and more going to Jim Vonau!

  • Both illustrate how all gifts to Gladden, regardless of size, represent important catalysts in our ecosystem, helping us serve the community in varied ways.

Hat’s off to the Class of 2024!

It’s the biggest day of the year for our little ones and truly one of the most meaningful mission moments every year at Gladden House: Preschool Graduation!

This isn’t just a chance to see their smiling faces but to celebrate the hard work and dedicated passion of the staff of our 5-Star program—and a moment to acknowledge the crucial role our parents and families play in our children’s success as they trust us with their young ones!

Thank you to our board members and volunteers for helping us make the day special. We had smoothies from our partners and neighbors, Franklinton Farms, popsicles from J-Pops, pizza from Donatos, desserts, drinks, and gift bags courtesy of Bright Horizons, and caps and gowns covered by our friends at Buckeye Health Plan!

Other wins:

  • We’re proud to announce that our preschool—one of the first programs to receive the highest quality rating through Ohio’s Step up the Quality Program—has now returned to a 5-star designation, the highest level of quality obtainable. Shout-out to Miss Julia and our dedicated staff for their incredible work!

  • Once again, our incredible preschool program remains indebted to our partners who believe in our ability to prepare our future learners for success, including the Ingram-White Castle Foundation and their recent grant award for our program!

In the Community: THANK YOU!

Deloitte

Summer is always a busy volunteer month, and 2024 is no different! Our Senior Outreach program always focuses on keeping our neighbors living independently in their homes, and we rely on the gracious help of our corporate partners to assist us each year in whipping senior yards into shape! Salute to the team at Deloitte for getting their hands dirty for Franklinton! Would you or your team be interested in volunteering at Gladden? Click the link below and let us know!

Engineered Profiles/Northern Lighting

We were also so lucky to have the staff at Engineered Profiles personally come and paint and install new lighting (donated by Northern Lighting) in our West Locker Room, in preparation for converting the space for use by Youth Services. This is what community partnership looks like!

Welcome to Janara Alfano!

We’re thrilled to announce that Janara Alfano has joined the team as Gladden’s new Volunteer Coordinator. Would you like to volunteer your time, talent, or treasure to help stabilize the families of Franklinton? Click this link to send an email and connect with Janara and our team for opportunities!
