Gladden receives transformative gift from Bank of America
Gladden Community House prides itself on serving the entire community—at multiple stages of life—and now, we’ll be able to expand our senior outreach for Franklinton and beyond!
We begin this new year on a familiar note—one of gratitude—for an incredible investment in our mission from a dedicated community partner.
We’re honored to announce Gladden as one of two local recipients of Bank of America’s prestigious Neighborhood Builders award, receiving extensive leadership development and transformative funding of $200,000 over the next two years.
The invitation-only program is highly competitive, with awardees selected by a committee composed of community leaders and past awardees, which include reputable nonprofits like City Year, Dress for Success, Homeport, YWCA, and more. Along with The Center for Healthy Families, Gladden is one of only 13 organizations to receive the award since the program’s local inception in 2018.
Nationwide, Bank of America has invested over $300 million in grants to nearly 1,800 nonprofits since 2004. It has helped more than 3,500 nonprofit leaders strengthen their leadership skills in nearly 100 communities across the U.S. through Neighborhood Builders and Champions.
“Providing these nonprofits with flexible funding and comprehensive leadership training helps them address critical needs and create meaningful, lasting change in our communities,” said Bank of America Columbus President Kelly D’Ambrosia.
The overarching goal of our Senior Outreach program is to help them continue living independently, safely, and happily in their own homes. These funds will help us improve our capacity to serve more seniors, with both increased services and total number of clients, and help us address their critical needs, which are highly varied based on age, financial security, and housing situations.
We offer direct services such as casework, resource referrals, transportation, social and educational events, and food assistance through our Food Pantry and home delivery program. Gladden is currently well positioned as a community agency with long, deep roots and extensive networks of community partners, enabling us to meet the needs of seniors with targeted support, as well as continue to expand our reach to younger seniors in the community.
“We are truly grateful,” said Gladden President & CEO Joe Gottron. "Bank of America’s generous grant enables us to deepen our impact in supporting the families and individuals we serve in Franklinton. It is impressive that Bank of America recognizes the need for leadership development training in the nonprofit sector, especially the need to invest in emerging leaders.”
Both Gottron and Gladden Youth Services Director Jayde Guy, named as an Emerging Leader through the program, will participate in comprehensive leadership training over the next year, along with being connected to a national network of nonprofit peers.
Gladden is also proud to share this year’s announcement with The Center for Healthy Families, another kindred nonprofit that stabilizes families in the community. Their services include engaging and connecting pregnant and parenting youth and their families by providing access to health care services and supports, education, sustainable employment, housing, advocacy, and other resources.
